Rainey Street transforms into Austin's densest hub from its sleepy, residential roots

Austin’s Rainey Street is about to emerge from a construction cocoon — solidifying its longtime transformation from a once sleepy, residential street into one of the densest areas in Texas, if not the country. The years-in-the-making hub will be home to thousands of people, in addition to hotels, offices, retails and restaurants that are expected to keep the district buzzing throughout the day and evening. "It’s not going to be the homogeneous city street with bars in it that Rainey was ... but man, it’s going to be something really cool," one stakeholder said in this special report.
